This should come as no surprise as Sunday's Grammys telecast drew the largest television numbers for the broadcast in 28 years. The annual celebration of music was of course a celebration of the brilliant career of six-time Grammy winner Whitney Houston who tragically passed away on the weekend. The Recording Academy released a statement saying that more than 39 million tuned in with obvious curiosity about how the event would handle the passing of Houston who was nominated for 26 Grammys in her brilliant career. It is also thought that many were wondering how this year's big winner Adele would handle her first performance since throat surgery. The audience surpassed the 1984 Grammys when Michael Jackson swept the trophies with his Thriller album.
