Canwest Global Communications has announced that it will shut down CHEK Television in Victoria, B.C. on August 31st. CHEK Television is one of Canada's heritage broadcast outlets. CHEK was founded in 1956 who operated CKDA Radio. The announcement comes as Canwest struggles to cope with a 3.7 billion dollar debt. Canwest also announced the closure of CHCA Television in Red Deer.
