It was December 24th, 1906 that inventor Reginald Fessenden who had previously perfected the transmission of a human voice from 50 foot towers on Cobb Island in the Potomac River, Washington , DC would become the first to transmit music by broadcasting a Christmas concert 104 years ago this Friday from a shack at Brant Rock Massachusetts to crews of ships in the Atlantic Ocean.

He might have been the first radio deejay. Fessenden followed a brief speech by switching on the Edison phonograph and playing "Handel's Largo" and concluded by wishing listeners a "Merry Christmas".
