Yahoo has published its top of careers that are in demand for 2012 and while radio and television talent didn't crack the list, two on the countdown spillover into broadcasting.  1. Information Technology: Technology is everywhere and you need only see the rise in web jobs on this site to appreciate the bump in tech jobs. Almost every broadcast outlet has a web person. 2. Health care professionals: needs of aging boomers, simple as that.

3. Health care management and support staff (see #3)  Rounding out the top eight countdown of Prime 2012 careers, 4. Life Sciences and Technology, 5. Engineers, 6. Industry skills and trades, 7.  Accounting and finance, and sneaking into the countdown at 8. Sales people. It is not for everyone but some consider sales the most recession-proof job of them all. The top earner in your radio or tv station just might be that salesperson pounding the pavement selling time.  It can also be where many old announcers go to pasture to make the big bucks.  Could Herb Tarlek have been wrong?
