Wikipedia plans to black out its English-language site Wednesday in a protest against two proposed federal Iinternet regulation bills.  WIKI founder Jimmy Wales (you'll know him from his personal messages whenever you wiki something) tweeted this week ...

"this is going to be wow." Wikimedia is one of several sites calling on lawmakers to block the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) AND Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) over concern they will hold website owners liable for links to sources of illegal music and movie downloading etc.  The move will reportedly affect up to 40 million users.  Wales is warning students to "do their homework early" because of the one-day shutdown of WIKI-ness.   We can only imagine that suggests that students use WIKI as a modern day cheat sheet.  I just realized WIKI stands for "What-I-Know-Is". But you know your website has arrived when your company's name is being used as a verb!
